Dr. Erjia Yan’s presentation at Metadata Mondays

Dr. Erjia Yan at College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) of Drexel University made the first presentation in MRC’s Metadata Mondays series on February 1. About 25 people, including faculty members at CCI, librarians, and PhD students, joined and listened to his lecture about using hybrid methods to analyze the impact of software in scientific studies. The participants held active discussions after the presentation.

Welcome to New MRC Students

We are delighted to announce two new CCI master’s students have joined the Dryad curation team: Vishesh Singh and Juby John. Vishesh is a master’s student enrolled in the MSIS program at CCI. He has a background in electronics and communication engineering. Juby is a master’s student in the Software Engineering program at CCI and brings a rich experience in software QA and documentation.

On Wednesday, December 2nd, MRC Visiting Scholar Kedma Duarte presented a talk on her research, titled “Assessing Researcher’s Collaborative Quality.” Kedma is a PhD Student in the Engineering and Management Knowledge Graduate Program of Engineering and Management Knowledge at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, SC, Brazil.

DCMI 2015-2016 Technical Advisory Board

The 2015-2016 DCMI Technical Advisory Board has been created to address issues with the DCMI technical infrastructure, including the DCMI website, mailing lists, and various other accounts. Adrian Ogletree, MRC Research Project Manager, is serving as a committee member on the board this year. The current DCMI infrastructure inventory and the future of PURLs have been the main foci of the board so far. If you are interested in keeping up with the group’s activities or joining the group, please email Adrian Ogletree for more information.

Public Release: Final Report for 2D and 3D File Format Recommendations

The MRC, in collaboration with Drexel University’s Applied Informatics Group (AIG) and Harvard Libraries, has released its final report for the project “2D and 3D File Format and Metadata Analysis” [link to report]. Harvard Library collections include several thousand 2D and 3D objects representing art, architectural, archaeological, museum, engineering and other objects.
