Dr. Jane Greenberg, director of the Metadata Research Center, has been named a 2014 Data Fellow by the National Consortium for Data Science. The fellowship will support Dr. Greenberg’s Metadata Capital Initiative, a project intended to help formulate and discover methods for assessing the ‘value’ of metadata, and how that value changes over time.
The goal of the NCDS is to help prepare American industry, academia, and government meet the challenges presented by big data, and to support the ongoing development of data science and policy. Dr. Greenberg’s work will help provide an evidence-based practice framework for metadata creation and development, enriched by collaboration with leaders in data use and creation in both the public and private sectors.
